The Basic Philosophy of Playing Blackjack

Blackjack is widely known as the most popular card game in any casino around the world. Many people can identify blackjack even if they are not really casino gamblers and this is the game that made the number 21 very popular.

Blackjack tournaments are now getting much attention whether in land-based or online casinos, thus making the game more exciting and popular.

Many people believed that the primary objective of blackjack is to acquire a hand that is almost equal to 21 without going over it. But this is not really the real objective of blackjack. The true objective of a blackjack game is to beat the dealer by acquiring a hand that is higher than the dealer's hand without exceeding 21.

This literally means that your chance of winning in blackjack is the same with a hand of 14 as with 20, so long as that hand is greater than the dealer's hand. If ever the dealer's hand has a higher value than yours without getting over 21, then the dealer's hand wins in the game of blackjack.

Having a good understanding of the true objective of blackjack, which is to beat the dealer, will help you in scheming out the effective strategy for the game. The dealer's card play is always following a specific blackjack rule that is separate from the player's card play and once you understands these rules, you will have a good chance of winning in blackjack.

Blackjack rules vary slightly between casinos depending on what are the specific house rules set by the casino operators. But in spite of this, there are still some general rules in blackjack that you could base your strategy from and then move on from there.

Al blackjack games use the standard card deck composed of 52 cards. Card suits are totally insignificant and only the numeric values of the cards are valuable. The card values in blackjack are the following: - Ten, Jack, Queen, King = Ten - Ace = One or 11 - Other cards = numerical face value

The blackjack rules of doubling down, splitting pairs, and acquiring a natural are all possible on a hand of two cards. Natural blackjack has a payout of three to two. When a blackjack is achieved after splitting pairs, it is not considered as a natural blackjack, therefore the payout is only one to one.

If both dealer and player have a natural, then it is a push, which means that the player's original bet is returned back because the player neither win nor lose in the game.

As a general blackjack rule, the dealer will hit on a hand of 16 and lower and will stand on a hand of 17 or higher. The dealer card play is already fixed and that means that the dealer can't do anything to bend the blackjack rules to get some advantage over the player.

Blackjack is naturally easy to learn and play and once you understand the objective and game rules, you will definitely love playing the game.
